THE TRUTH ALWAYS MIGRATES OUTSIDE OF PREJUDICE #2

Over the years, we have observed the profound disconnection between the daily realities we face in the field and the awareness of Italians and Europeans regarding the real conditions of people coming from Africa. Some perceive and describe migrants as taking job opportunities away from Italians. Moreover, media and technology do not seem to foster greater understanding; on the contrary, we have observed how social networks and advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, instead of spreading knowledge, often reinforce already ingrained prejudices. Numerous are the cases where AI has given life to fake news, consolidating and spreading unfounded and manipulative arguments.

From these reflections arises the communication campaign, conceived by Diego Fontana, an independent creative and professor at the European Institute of Design: a series of contents revolving around a clear concept, exemplified by a direct and unembellished payoff that fully represents us: real people helping real people. Through the use of visual Artificial Intelligence software like Midjourney and Firefly, we will create images that give visibility to tenacious and persistent prejudices; stories fueled by misinformation that exist only in everyday chatter: migrants living in luxury hotels in Italy and Europe, subsidized to spread certain values in the West, people stealing jobs from Westerners, or who could easily stay in their countries if only they accepted the existing conditions. Naturally, these falsehoods will be categorically refuted by a clear statement: these scenes “Exist only in an image created with Artificial Intelligence.” Our goal is clear: to convey the message that only with an open mind, direct knowledge, and the courage to overcome prejudices can we become fully-fledged citizens of the present and future world.
