Echoes of Atlas II Expedition: Return to the Atlas Mountains
There are only a few days left before schools reopen, a time that for many children is synonymous with new opportunities, friendships, and dreams. However, for some, such as the children living in the remote mountainous areas of the Atlas in Morocco, returning to school is not so simple.
The wounds from the devastating earthquake that struck the region a year ago are still visible, not only in the houses and villages but especially in the lives of the youngest. The destruction spared nothing, not even schools, leaving many families struggling to provide even the most basic educational materials needed for their children's schooling.
On September 21st, a year after the tragic event, a new expedition, "Echoes of Atlas II," will depart for Morocco. The goal is clear: to bring hope and concrete support to the children living in the Atlas Mountains by providing them with notebooks, pens, pencils, and colors, essential tools for continuing their educational journey.
This mission aims to go beyond the simple distribution of school materials. It is about giving the children affected by the earthquake the opportunity to dream and build a future, starting with education, the bridge that can lead them to a better life.
The villages in the Atlas are difficult to reach; the winding roads that snake through the mountains make transport and access challenging, but this does not deter our determination.
The expedition is the result of months of preparation, and now we wish to launch a fundraising campaign to involve as many people as possible. Every contribution, even the smallest, can make a difference. With the help of donors, we will be able to purchase the necessary school materials directly in Morocco, thus also supporting the local economy, which has suffered heavy setbacks after the earthquake.
The earthquake that shook the entire region caused significant material damage, but the deepest wounds are those that cannot be seen: the loss of security, fear, and uncertainty about the future. For children, school - often housed in containers installed after the quake - represents a return to normalcy, a place where they can feel safe and continue to grow. However, without essential school materials, even the right to education is called into question.
Echoes of Atlas II seeks to address this need with a simple yet powerful gesture: delivering educational materials directly into the hands of the children. Every pen, every notebook thus becomes a symbol of hope and renewal. It is a small but powerful tool that can help them look forward, overcome the trauma, and build a future despite everything.
The expedition on September 21st will mark an important moment for these children and for all those who participate in the fundraising effort. In an increasingly interconnected world, every act of solidarity becomes an echo that spreads beyond the Atlas Mountains, reaching wherever there is someone willing to lend a hand.
Anyone wishing to contribute can do so by donating directly on this page. Donations are tax-deductible, an additional incentive to participate in this great collective effort. Every euro collected will become a small piece of the future for the children of the Atlas, who, despite the difficulties, do not stop dreaming.
Echoes of Atlas II is much more than a simple expedition; it is a message of hope, a tangible sign that even in times of greatest difficulty, humanity can make a difference. And as we prepare to depart, everyone can be part of this journey, helping to bring a bit of light into the lives of children living in the earthquake-affected areas.
